New Treasures in the South Island NZ

A mutual friend and I connected recently about a trip to the South Island of New Zealand together. Caroline lives in Montana however is originally from NZ so she was coming back for a visit and a potentially roadie. I jumped at the chance to see more unexplored places in the South.

The Winter Fairmont Fantasy - Banff & Lake Louise

We had the perfect ski vacation planned this winter with SkiBig3 and it was fabulous, but the untold second love was where we stayed. The Fairmont Banff Springs is a luxury hotel tucked away in the valley just minutes from downtown Banff. It feels like you are in a castle in the forest with cascading mountain views all around. We had the pleasure of staying here for four nights and getting extremely familiar with everything the Fairmont has to offer. We also spent an afternoon at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, another splendid experience I will share as well.

5 Reasons to Choose a Guided Adventure with SkiBig3

I grew up skiing in this amazing beautiful Alberta backyard of mine, so to say I am familiar with the Ski areas nearby would be a correct assumption. A few weeks ago, we were offered a Guided Ski Adventure with SkiBig3 during which a guide accompanies you on any of the three (or all) Norquay, Lake Louise or Banff Sunshine ski resorts. I was skeptical at first, but after our first day, I realized the worth of having a professional join along. I love all the hills through the Banff National Park and having a guide was a new experience for me, so I have summed up our involvement in five points.

Fun and Sun with Obrrigado Coconut Water

I do love winter in my home of the Canadian Rockies but I equally love some hot weather. I decided I had a couple free weeks to meet up with my Parents in Mexico to soak up some sun and enjoy some heat before ski season.

I find the ocean one of the most healing entities and so I vowed this trip to be one of self improvement and self love. In this blog I will explain some of the ways I look after myself not only on a holiday in Mexico, but for everyday practices.

Winter in Alberta: Our Little Trip

Spending so much time in new Zealand with my partner had me thinking this year. Why doesn’t he come home for Christmas to spend a snowy month in Alberta with me? I have always been a sucker for a white Christmas in Alberta (home) so I knew he would fall in love with it as well.

Churchill - Part Two Manitoba

After exploring the city of Winnipeg, we boarded a small plane from a separate part of the airport en route to Churchill, Manitoba — the Polar Bear Capital of the World! I have always wanted to visit this incredible spot because, even though I love landscapes, I have a soft spot for wildlife as well. I love seeing animals in their natural habitat and to learn as much as possible about them. I remember being so excited for this all summer!

Winnipeg - Part One Manitoba

I have been fortunate enough to see much of my Canadian countryside. From the rugged west coast of British Columbia and the northern Yukon landscapes and then to the far east where the cliffs bleed red in Prince Edward Island and the humpbacks are plentiful in Newfoundland — I have even lived a year in Saskatchewan with the rolling fields of golden wheat — but never have I stepped foot in Manitoba. This made my recent trip here quite special as I have always wanted to visit but just haven’t got around to it until now.

Pura Vida in Costa Rica

When I received the invitation to travel to Costa Rica a few months ago I have to say I was pretty ecstatic. It has been a place long on my never ending bucket list so I immediately confirmed. I was able to bring along a model and friend Jordana who brought more beauty to the photos and to the trip with her light soulful attitude.

Underwater Adventures with GoPro Hero 6

I recently was gifted a GoPro Hero 6 from friends at Sportchek. To be honest, I have never really used GoPro much, which is odd with all the outdoor activities that I am involved in that don't exactly fair well with my DSLR! I just hadn't given it much thought to opportunities with GoPro. I was excited to give it a try especially because I have seen some exceptional work done with GoPro and the new places I could take my Photography. In this particular case a trip to Mexico with some tropical snorkeling seemed like the perfect start to my new GoPro Adventure.

Tasmania has been on the pages of my mind for some time before this trip, so when I had yet another flight back to New Zealand to see my boyfriend I decided we should go together and experience a new place.

Destination Phoenix with Air Canada Rouge

My surprise 48 hour destination trip with Air Canada Rouge has been one of my favourite spontaneous adventures. It started at the airport check in, with no idea where my flight was headed, I checked in and discovered that I was going to Phoenix, Arizona! I have never done a surprise destination like this so it was quite the experience to book all my activities on route using the Rouge Wi-Fi on-board.

Fire and Ice: Our Iceland Experience

Obviously the beauty of Iceland is one of a kind. After seeing many images from the country I knew it was somewhere I needed to visit, it was only a matter of making it happen. The contrasting landscape is simply stunning. I booked a trip with my friend Leanne a few weeks ago and this is what we found, captured and brought back as memories.

Our Little Local Mountain Vacation

Fall comes quickly in the Canadian Rockies so when I had a spare weekend to explore the fall colours, I immediately booked a trip to Lake Louise with my friend Jordanna! Being spontaneous is one of the best ways I travel! But when it comes to booking popular areas, it can get pricey last minute. Luckily there are tricks and ways around that. For this blog post, I want to show you why I travel and how you can easily book your next getaway.

Life with Ice in the Cariboos with CMH Heli

I spend all year looking forward to any trip with CMH, and this September I was lucky enough to join them again in the Cariboos Lodge near Valemount BC, which they are reopening next summer for heli-hiking. The last lodge I stayed at with CMH, the Bugaboo Lodge, had me thinking that no place could ever come close however the Cariboos have exceeded all expectations and now I can't even compare the two! I can never decide if glaciers or mountains are most beautiful, lucky for me I didn't have to choose here because the place was chalk full of both.

Headed North of North with Merrell Outside

We designated two weeks at the end of August to explore Alaska and Yukon, I only made one miscalculation, two weeks is not near enough time to explore both regions in the slightest! As we drove the 35 hours to the Tombstone region I knew we would only have time for one area so we decided to stay in the Tombstones. Here is a collection of stories and visuals of our rainy lovely trip out here supported by Merrell Outside.

Real Back-country Camping with Merrell Outside

Nothing says adventure much like heading out into the wilderness with a good friend and letting the unexpected find you, this is said to an extent of course. I have done many multi day trips, and I know the importance of preparation so I am here to share with you our three day trip in Kananaskis and how I was prepared, and not so prepared; and how most of my trips into the mountains come with a fair bit of suffering.
